Former Power player Kane Cornes says in this week’s Carlton v Brisbane match, he’d rather be the loser in order to secure number-one pick in this year’s AFL draft. Talented youngster Jack Lukosius is primed for top-pick – Cornes believes the proposition of him in Carlton’s attacking zone would be too tempting to pass up when the time comes. “If it was me, and I had the choice, I think I’d rather lose,” he told SEN Mornings. “Watching this kid (Lukosius) run around thinking the damage that he and Charlie Curnrow could do for the next 10 years is frightening. He is a star. “He can play at either end, I’ve seen him play league footy already and dominate in the big finals, that was last year. He has done it again this year. “A beautiful kick of the footy would look very nice in the Carlton forward line. He could even okay across the half-back line if you needed him to.” Lukosius is tipped by many to be scouted with the first selection at this year’s national draft – a notion the star half-back says he felt has grown over the year. “Obviously this is the pointy end of the year where everyone wants to play their best, so it’s a pretty exciting time and I’m looking forward to Wednesday and hopefully finishing off with a good win,” Lukosius told the Herald Sun. “The further the year has gone, the more serious it’s got and it’s exciting.” The 18-year old rising star said he has been monitoring where he could end up; but is all but resigned from leaving Adelaide. “I’d love to stay home, but I’m more than happy to go wherever. It’s a national competition. I’m pretty much planning to move away from home and my parents. “But whether it’s in the red white and blue, or down in the red and black, it doesn’t bother me — as long as I’m on an AFL list it doesn’t matter.”
